Delete your account
Effective May 18, 2026
You can delete your Toad account and the data associated with it at any time. There are two ways to do it.
Option 1 — From inside the app (fastest)
- Open Toad on your phone.
- Tap the Settings icon (gear, top right of the home screen).
- Scroll to Delete account.
- Confirm by re-authenticating with the provider you signed in with (Google, Apple, or email/password). This step is required for security.
- Tap Delete.
The deletion runs immediately. You will be signed out and returned to the login screen.
Option 2 — By email (if you cannot access the app)
If you have lost access to the device, uninstalled the app, or cannot complete re-authentication, email us:
To: hello@sagamore.studio
Subject: Delete my Toad account
Include: the email address, Google account, Apple ID,
or phone number you used to sign in. We need that to find your
account.
We will confirm the request by replying to the address you wrote from (or, where appropriate, by sending a verification email to the address on the account) and will complete the deletion within 30 days of confirmation. In practice it is usually done within a few business days.
What gets deleted
- Your Firebase Authentication record — the account itself, your email, your password hash, your linked OAuth provider IDs, your display name, and your photo URL.
- Your watchlist (the streets you were watching) and your notification preferences.
- The device records tying your phone to your account, including your FCM push token.
- The local SQLite cache on your phone (cleared on the way out of the app).
- Any premium-activation audit rows attributable to your account, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records).
What may persist briefly
A few things take a little longer to disappear. We are flagging this so the disclosure is honest:
- Database backups are retained on a rolling 14-day window. If you delete your account today, a backup taken yesterday will still hold a copy of your row until it is overwritten in the normal rotation. Backups live on the same access-controlled server volume as the production database and are not used for any purpose other than disaster recovery.
- Crash and error reports previously sent to Sentry live out Sentry’s default 90-day retention window. We will purge any such reports earlier on written request.
- Server request logs (the kind every web service keeps) are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Aggregate, non-identifying statistics (for example: total active users on a given day, total notifications sent) may be retained indefinitely. These cannot be traced back to you.
What happens to local notifications
Toad schedules reminder notifications directly on your phone using the operating system’s local notification system. When you delete your account from inside the app, these scheduled notifications are canceled at the same time. If you delete your account by email without first opening the app, scheduled local notifications will continue firing until you uninstall the app from your device or open it once after deletion.
If you only want to stop using the app
You do not have to delete your account to stop using Toad. You can sign out from Settings → Sign out, uninstall the app, or turn notifications off in your device settings without losing your account. Account deletion is intended for users who want their data removed from our systems.
